JOLON, Monterey County — October 30, 2026. Visitors planning to see the remote Mission San Antonio de Padua during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons should check its published calendar before driving to the Jolon Valley. The mission’s official website says the mission, grounds, gift shop and retreat center will be closed November 23–27. Its holiday listing also sets a December 21–26 closure, with an exception for a Christmas Eve Mass at 5 p.m. December 24.
Which November dates are open?
The mission’s calendar lists November 4–7, 11–14 and 18–21 at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday hours on November 1, 8, 15 and 22 are 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., following the 10:30 a.m. Mass. The entry for Saturday, November 21 also announces a “Following Francis” concert at 1 p.m. in the mission church. The main calendar gives no ticket price or performer details, so prospective guests should ask the mission before assuming admission arrangements.
When does the site reopen after Thanksgiving?
The mission lists November 28, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. and November 29, 11:30 a.m.–4 p.m. as its next scheduled visiting dates. Another closure is posted for December 28, 2026, through January 2, 2027, with Sunday visiting hours resuming January 3. The mission warns that when it is closed, the grounds are also closed, not merely the museum or gift shop.
Where is it, and what should visitors bring?
The historic mission is located at the end of Mission Road in Jolon, California 93928. The office number is (831) 385-4478. The mission notes that internet service can be unreliable and appreciates cash or checks for gift shop purchases. Its website says it can process only U.S.-based credit card transactions. There is no guarantee that the public can access a closed property simply to photograph the building.
